Loaded up on Kojima Lalako since I couldn’t afford not to completely read all of her works. (:3)rz

As most of you (regular readers) know, I haven’t been buying BL that much lately because of the usual reasons. Thankfully last month, my mom agreed to let me buy new (manga) releases again and as for school matters, I’m now officially a college senior this coming semester and so my aunt actually allowed me to do anything I want this summer. So of course I’m trying to give all my time to my usual hobbies although most of the time, I dwell on improving my illustration (career—sort of).

Kojima Lalako’s “Kimi ni Utsuru Hoshi“

I bought moca (anthology) just so I can read the first part of this whole tankoubon (I was desperate to read Kojima Lalako’s work that time you see…).

I was skimming through this one when I got it and not being biased—or okay I guess I’m really biased with everything Kojima Lalako has to offer—I’m really intrigued by the characters in this tank. I just love it when Kojima Lalako makes crossdressers. She makes them all the more yummier.

Can I just say how much I’m loving this tank right now. ;v;)<3

And funny thing is, my friends and I were discussing this when I happen to get a few similarities of some Kuroko no Basket characters in this tank.

First thing I spotted was some sort of Kise character. In the story, this girl (friends with the canon pair) has a senpai/boyfriend which one of the boys described as “Someone who has such a pretty face and eyes look like they have 3 stars in it” basically, Kira Kira like Kise. *Forgive me if I have poor translations since I just translate it as to how I literally understood the context. ;-;

Second is… AOMINE… RYOTA… PFFT.

But no no it’s just me seeing Kurobas everytime most especially lately with Kojima Lalako since she’s dead obsessed with Kise’s moe-ness. I understand that perfectly, though..

Friends and I were laughing so much at this we had to make it legit that this boy is Aomine and Kise’s lovechild.

But anyway, so far this manga is really nice. I mean really, really nice. I love how Kojima Lalako tends to be more diverse with her characters lately.

As expected from HertZ, the paper quality of this tank is splendid. Remember Neko no Yomeiri?

I haven’t checked the contents so I can’t say anything much yet.

It has the prettiest paper though.

That’s it for Kojima Lalako—as of now. I seriously can’t believe it’s been 2 years already since her debut release and I here I am still needy with everything she makes. It’s rare for me to like something or someone this long. Usually I move from another thing to another since I get tired of something quite easily. In Kojima Lalako’s case though, she gives you what she does usually but it makes you feel like they’re timeless.

“Sayonara Note” by Tomoe Fumi.

I was actually more intrigued by her previous work “Oujito“. But then I saw she had something new released just early this year so I thought of just including it in my to-buy list and just borrow Oujito from a friend of mine since she will most likely borrow this one as well, lol.

The art is so cute but the characters are like just the same from Oujito, lol. I mean the main. They just switched bodies methinks. Err.

“Bokura ga Koi wo Suru ni wa” by Uchida Tsuchi.

I missed a lot of her works prior to this. I got to buy her “Barairo Melancholy” a year and a half(?) ago and it was very adorable as I recall! I’ll most likely try to pick that up again soon.

Note about Uchida Tsuchi’s works, though. It’s not obvious but her H scenes are really sexy. I mean REALLY sexy. Barairo Melancholy left me with that impression, lol. Although as I observe Bokura ga Koi wo Suru ni wa, looking at that suggestive cover, I guess it already made some kind of signal. Yeah? No? Okay. HAVE FUN READING! 8D

Next to a bunch of Kojima Lalako in this order, Ogawa Chise’s “Kono Ore ga Omae Nanka Suki na Wakenai” is one of the main highlights in this month’s orders.

When Ogawa Chise first released “Ouji no Hakoniwa“, I was so intrigued but then I always end up bypassing it. Trust me I always list that in my to-buy but whenever I see another manga with a cover I easily get attracted to, I end up not following the list and just buy whatever I see. Talk about bad buying habit.

I’m so excited to read this after I finish the current Kojima Lalako tank I’m reading right now. ;v;)<3

When I was talking about buying BL again in my twitter, a friend told me I should really get this one because she found it cute! Also, I saw another friend posted her reading this which made me a lot more excited to get my hands on it.

I seriously have a great feeling I’ll enjoy this so much. No, not just because of the crossdressing and yummy teasing but I love it when a BL manga has an adorable female supporting character. <3

Oh and… For some reason the seme reminds me of Mukkun (Murasakibara) from KnB.

It’s been a while since I last visited BL blogs and when I happen to stumble upon my usual BL sources, I was so ecstatic to see an upcoming release from Yamada Torico!

Quite a new feel to her usual covers isn’t it?  The release date for this is on April 27.

Anyway, for this very first mangaka review, I’ll will briefly be talking about one of my favorite mangakas, Kojima Lalako.

If you’ve been regularly reading my blog, or follow me on Twitter, I always talk about this woman especially before when my hobby of collecting and being updated with BL was just crazy.

I found out about Kojima Lalako 2 years ago and instantly fell in love with her works. I never really knew what kind of stories she made but when it was announced that she’ll be releasing her very first tankoubon, I immediately pre-ordered like a mad woman and impatiently waited for my copy. Funny thing was, she was also pretty new to the BL industry when I started blogging back in early 2011.

The very first work I read from her was “Neko no Yomeiri” which I reviewed here.

When I first saw her interview in HertZ’s website, I thought, “Oh she seems like a really, really cute person I bet her works are just as cute as she is, lol” > well, not my exact words—but I hope you guys get the point. So yeah when I finally received my copies, if I remember correctly I received Neko no Yomeiri and Iya yo Yamete yo first—I went on and read Neko no Yomeiri because I was so intrigued about the story—not because I love cats to death…. Okay maybe because I do. (:3)rz

After reading Neko no Yomeiri, I now went ahead on to “Iya yo Yamete yo“—which was very, very amusing. I also reviewed it here.

This was a complete shocker after reading Neko no Yomeiri. Shock in a good way since I finally got to see Kojima Lalako’s flexibility with regards to her plot since Iya yo Yamete yo is just full of delicious H scenes.

Out of all of Kojima Lalako’s works, this was the most obscene one yet. Although, when she tends to put up with an H-full plot, it tends to be kind of a PWP work. I’m really biased with her but I should tell you that Iya yo Yamete yo isn’t really that much of a great read compared to her other ones but if you want to see some good adorable sex scenes then by all means please, go ahead!

Cross-dressing boys are one of her best illustrations, lol.

Also from Iya yo Yamete yo, “Hana no Ma ni Ma ni” is my personal favorite. You’ll know why if you read my review. *u*)/

It’s not that I didn’t enjoy Iya yo Yamete yo becuase of what I just said about it quite leaning to PWP, in fact, I enjoyed it really much because of the very lol kinky stories and… 3P…. (:3)rz

Now my favorite, “Kimi to Parade” which I again, reviewed here.

I’ve alwaaaaaaaays LOVED teacher-student relationships. I always say this whenever I get to review (BL) mangas like that, lol.

I cried when I read Neko no Yomeiri but reading this manga had me crying a lot more especially when the whole tank just consists of the main story—which I think was for the best since if it left me hanging, who knows what would’ve happened to my sanity.

So as always, please just read the review for further info about this manga! ;u;)/ Although I must say again, I really, REALLY loved this so much. Whenever friends asks me for Kojima Lalako recs I really recommend this one first. The story left such a big impact on me about relationships and career.

Reading the middle parts are quite hard to take into heart because of all the frustrations of the two but once you finish it, it’s really all worth it. Which reminds me I have to read this again someday once I have time—which I doubt I would but hopefully!

One of her very recent releases, “Ano Ko to Juliette” is about two high school boys who ran away from home and hopefully live a new life together—well, the title speaks for itself, it’s kind of like a short BL spin-off of Rome and Juliette.

Sadly, I still haven’t posted a review on this. I’m terribly sorry about that! ;A: but soon I will!

Anyway, to make a brief insight on this tank, it kind of introduces a new side to Kojima Lalako’s works—for some reason since it was really, really angst-y. You wouldn’t feel the “fuwa fuwa-ness” of her works much in this particular tankoubon.

Overall, I liked it; the last story was my favorite. I love how the seme’s feelings got to develop for the uke because of a dead girl’s spirit who wants to reach out to her lover(?) which is the seme. Sorry, I’m not really sure of the girl’s relationship with the seme but it seems they both like each other given the fact that the girl asked the uke, whose main purpose in the story was to write “special” love letters to guys (as requested by his girl schoolmates), to give her undelivered message to the seme. Did I make sense there?

I-i-isn’t she the cutest!!?? Uuuuuuuu Michiruuuuuuuu ;A;)/

Anywho, I’ll make sure to write a review on this if I have extra time on my hands. I do recommend this by the way! ;u;)/

Last but definitely not the least, “Amakute Shinjauyo“. Again, the title speaks for itself.

I still haven’t made a sneak peak and review of this yet orz; also, I kind of placed it aside a few months back since I got busy so up to now I still haven’t finished reading it. ;;

Although so far, it has an Iya yo Yamete yo feel to it with all the H scenes—but Iya yo Yamete yo still tops as her smut work.

Other than the works I mentioned above, Kojima Lalako has also released a few new titles recently:

I just found out about this “Nandome no Gomen ne” oneshot and it looks very, very interesting. Yet another new feel to her works since this already falls under “Psychological” and “Tragedy”. Is it just me or is Kojima Lalako leaning to a much more angst-y plots lately? Hrmm, not sure but it kind of feels like it. ;;

Anyway! Other than tankoubons, if you’re new to Kojima Lalako you must check her doujinshis. She makes doujinshis for Magi, Code Geass and most recently, Kuroko no Basket! *u* <3 She has also illustrated for novels which I never really had the chance to read any since my knowledge of Japanese is still… scarce. orz;

Art-wise, I’ve always loved her art style. It looks kind of old school which makes it looks so classy. Combined with distinctive cuteness and coloring style it’s really unique! As someone who often looks at art first, this is one factor why I came to like Kojima Lalako. Although I admit I must change this kind of attitude towards judging by BL covers.

On another note, Blush Anthology will be releasing their second volume early this year and I do hope everyone will look forward to it! They already decided on a certain theme and personally I find it very cute! I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say anything regarding BLush’s plans on providing yummy BL reads to everyone but I just want to say there really is a lot to look forward to! <3

Just the other day, my friend Yee Hun and I met up with Ms. Khursten Santos, one of the organizers of the BLush Convention, to get our own copies of the very first BLush Anthology. The meeting was also for us to discuss further plans with the anthology which then lead to a more in-depth fujoshi talk—which I enjoyed very much! We talked about the old and new BL fandom, the difference between yaoi, BL and their stereotypes. I loved how similar our views were about BL fandom; she was able to enlighten me with words I long thought of but never had the chance to express or explain it clearly especially here in my blog.

When I was into yaoi before, I never called it “BL”—I didn’t even know what BL was.

My BL fandom all started because of a random BL blog I stumbled upon while looking for some new manga. The blog was in Japanese so at first, I had no idea what she was talking about when I saw posts about BL magazines and anthologies. I thought to myself, “Wow, so stuff like this actually exists in yaoi fandom” since I only knew about Shonen Jump before, lol. After reading a few posts from her and discovered new blogs and fujoshi friends along the way, I now succumbed to the very obsessive fandom that is BL.

So what’s the difference between yaoi and BL anyways?

For me I think the right word to describe BL is that it’s such an esoteric fandom that most fans don’t give time to actually understand what the fandom really is so they just tend to only have knowledge about the general facts. Although, before I also used to think yaoi is more on the obscene side while BL on the other hand is just pure love. But it seems they both have matching descriptions which explains a lot since technically, they’re the same. As to what I understood from further readings about the term’s origin, it just depends on how people got used to calling it. In the end, it all differs on how much the fans understand the genre itself.

Up to now I’m still trying to get the right words out of my head in order for me to properly explain my thoughts about what BL really means and how it influenced me as an artist. All I can say is that it greatly influenced me not only for my art but also my perspective in life. I know it sounds a bit dramatic but that’s how it really is for me, haha!

BL greatly changed a huge part of my personality since it provided me personal guidance. Most of the BL mangas I got to read had a very realistic storyline and because of that, it really made me realize what life is all about—as cliche as it may sound. Since BL tends to lean more on the shojo and josei demographic, it often has a mature feel to it. 

My views on eroticism also changed because of BL. To most people, eroticism is pornographic which often leads to negative impressions. I remember Araki Nobuyoshi (a very famous Japanese (erotic) photographer) saying this in one of his interviews:

I think people should be positively dirty-minded and if you are positively dirty-minded, you end up in the most lively and energetic place. 

The quote seems simple but it actually depends on how you understand it.

Other than those, most of what I learned are too complex to include it here. Right now, I’m still trying to expose myself with more BL so let’s just see what further realizations I’ll get to have in my next post regarding the topic! ;v;)/
