FAQs

Since I’ve been receiving quite a lot of repeating similar questions in my formspring.me and a few in Tumblr, I finally decided to make a FAQs page for everyone’s convenience! *u*

Q: Where do you buy your BL mangas/magazines? And what payment method do you usually use?
A: I mostly buy in either Amazon.jp or HMV. Shipping costs vary (see this page for more info). For my usual payment method, I use direct credit/debit cards.

Q: What BL magazines/anthologies do you usually buy?
A: I usually buy anthologies like Canna and OPERA. I don’t really buy magazines since I feel like I’m missing out a lot of issues already (which I really am) so there’s really no use in collecting them now. But I do buy magazines if my favorite mangaka has a new featured story or if a new mangaka intrigues me.

Q: How do you keep track of all the latest BL releases?
A: I usually go to Chill-Chill (where all the latest releases are listed) or check individual websites of publishing companies (for more info). Other than those, I also check other BL blogs.

Q: Are you Japanese?
A: No.

Q: What’s your nationality and where are you from?
A: I’m a Filipino and currently residing in my home country.

Q: How did you learn how to read Japanese? Did you take formal lessons?
A: I’ve been self-studying the language for almost 10 years already. Although, due to difficult time management (school and other major priorities), I wasn’t able to maintain it throughout the years.

Q: Do you plan on working in Japan in the near future? If so, what job?
A: I’ve always dreamed of working in Japan eversince I was little. I plan on working there as a photographer but my biggest dream is to become a BL/josei mangaka. But all of those dreams won’t happen in the near future obviously so I’ll be going there for further art studies (specifically manga production and digital illustration) for the meantime.

Q: Are you working as a translator in a certain scanlation group?
A: Nope. I would love to join a scanlation group though!

Q: Can you scan *insert specific BL manga/anthology/magazine here* for me?
A: No, sorry. I can only do that if you’re from a certain scanlation group I know of or if you’re a close friend of mine.

Q: Do you also read licensed English BL mangas?
A: Yup!

These are the FAQs as of the moment. Will update this page again once another new set of repeating questions gets asked again, lol.

If you want to ask me something, just go drop a question here in my formspring account.

  1. Hello.
So I read here and you said you would like to join a scanlation group right? Do you still want to?
Sorry to sound like this. I’ve been looking all over for a devoted translator but I haven’t been able to find any so since I read that you would like to join one, I thought I should try.
If you don’t mind, would you like to join me? I’m the only member and am barely starting. If you’re interested, please email me.
If not, then that’s fine. I just want to give it a shot.
This is just a free scanlation group (not exactly group since I’m alone as of now) so I don’t know what you’ll think.

    Thank you.

    • Oh don’t be sorry!😀
Actually, I’m thinking of joining this certain group once summer break starts next year. D: but I do hope you can find your new members soon!🙂
Try visiting different forums. I’m sure you’ll be able to find some people who are very willing to join.🙂

  2. 10 years seem to be a long time to study japanese >-<. Did you try reading a visual novel with no english?

I definitely can't afford those manga but I've bought a Tiger & Bunny doujin and it cost ALOT.

    • It didn’t feel like 10 years, really. I was also busy with school during that time and only got to study during my free time.
Yes, I tried! It was a pain to translate to myself but finishing it was worthy. I do these a lot with otome games, too.

      Sometimes doujinshis really costs more than original manga. ^^;
